The time has come, the time is now. Cluster Festival has begun and Winnipeg is filled with the sound of new music. I’m up to my ears in viola d’amore this week, rehearsing a whole set of new songs with Ben Reimer and Mike P Falk for Friday’s INDIECONSTRUCTION, and working out the solo pieces for Sunday’s SEULE AMOUR | LONE LOVE, not to mention catching the other great festival shows!

A concert of very new works on a very old instrument.
Seule Amour is Jennifer Thiessen’s ongoing solo commissioning project for the viola d’amore, a baroque instrument known for its sweet sound and connection to cupid’s arrows. This concert features new works by Marielle Groven and Cassandra Miller, and existing works from 2015 by Steven Gellman, Mike Essoudry,  Pierre-Yves Martel, and Jen McLachlan.
