Every year, the Festival Montréal Baroque includes a free outdoor stage in their concert programming. Passersby get a taste of the baroque on their way by, or can stay all day if they like. My hour of solo viola d’amore music alternated pieces from the baroque and classical periods with contemporary works. The wind nearly got the best of us a few times but the tent held fast and I only had to chase my music across the stage once. The political protesters sharing the square with us were kind enough to take a break until the end of the set, and some friends were there to listen. What more could a girl ask for on an afternoon in June?
